The Power Of Sales In Hard Times

Every day we see helpless folks on TV losing their jobs in processing, manufacturing, and in service industries.  They are interviewed by TV journalists, who don’t seem to really care, and the poor folks who are losing their jobs talk about how they don’t know what they will do or what will happen to them.  Uncle Billy has a question for you.  Have you ever seen a sales person interviewed who lost their job?  Have you ever seen a tragic TV show about sales people who have been laid off in mass?  A Sales Goat who knows how to sell standing around wondering what to do?  I know I haven’t?  Why?

The reason is no company ever fires a good Sales Goat, and even if one company is stupid enough to close down their sales department, another company picks up all the good salespeople well before the old companies doors are slammed shut.  Sales people always are always in demand.  Good Sales People abandon companies well before their companies abandon them.  The reason is good sales people are always always valuable to companies that have products to sell.  And that is all companies who are in still in the business of growing their business!

Maybe our high schools and colleges should teach sales as part of their daily curriculum.   Maybe parents should encourage their kids to be Sales Goats.  A funny sidebar is that sales people make the most money in the world but almost of all of them arrive at their sales posts by some kind of accidental meeting or coincidence.  The Sales Goats stumble into their sales jobs as a result of being introduced to them by a random twist of fate.  This is especially true in mortgage sales where the Loan Officers generally find the position as they are working at some other job.

Today the one of the greatest opportunities in America is in the area of mortgage sales and in becoming a loan officer.   The folks who are doing it now won’t be able to handle all the opportunity that is coming in the future.  Millions of homes in foreclosure and short sale mean millions of loan applications that have to be processed and millions of mortgages that have to be sold.  Millions of Buyers who need their application taken, structured, and nurtured to close.  The economy that closes one door opens many others!  Mortgage is one of the our best opportunities as Sales Goats, don’t let this golden moment pass you by!
