Modern marvels like the Cell Phone, Phone Number ID, and Call Waiting have revolutuionized the ease with which a Sales Goat can do the number one most important thing that the Sales Goat must do: ANSWER THE PHONE. Everything else a Sales Goat does is secondary to that simple rule. Rule Two is if you miss any incoming call answer it within three minutes so the customers, referral sources, and peers who are calling you rely on that habit. It is essential that all the professionals and customers learn and know you provide an immediate return call that can be counted on. Lack of this single follow-up procedure, not returning incoming calls from customers, is the foremost cause of complaint about Mortgage Loan Officers
Our phones are our lifelines to the future. Each time we ignore a call we have limited our opportunity to be successful, and each time we let customer call go we didn’t miss a shot…we didn’t even take a shot.
As A Sales Manager I asked my Sales Goats to think about what their customers came to understand about them as a Professional Sales Persons as they went through the Loan Process with them. Did their customer learn that the Sales Goat answered their calls right away? Within a few minutes. Or did it take an hour to anwser a call. Or Four hours. Or a Day. Or the next Day. Or not at All. What did the customer learn about them? I even dared to suggest it might be aprropriate to ask the customer that very question…and then deal with the answer.
Answer your phone each time it rings. Return all your phone calls immediatley. You Win when you are doing more upfront than the other Sales Goat, and you lose the game when you drop the ball. Stay focused on answering your Phone every time it rings.
